Spider Dance was third over a sloppy Indiana Downs strip in her off-turf debut Oct. 31. Sent off at 5-1, over a fast Fair Grounds surface on December 9, the gray filly settled in midpack behind an opening quarter in :23.9 before she pulled herself into contention after a half in :48.95.
She then powered to the lead in upper stretch and stormed home an 8 1/2-length winner.
A daughter of Exchange Rate, Spider Dance was purchased by Hidden Brook farm for $85,000 after working a furlong in :10 2/5 at this year’s OBS June sale.

She now races in for the consistently successful Hidden Brook Farm Racing Partnership and is trained by likely Eclipse Award finalist Brad Cox.
Also on Sunday, December 9 Skywire, a Hidden Brook Farm juvenile purchase at the 2018 Fasig-Tipton Midlantic Two-Year-Old in Training auction, scored a debut victory at Woodbine. The daughter of Afleet Alex races for Lucio Tucci.
