Saturday, November 30, 2019

A listed stakes winner in her last out a Parx, Hidden Brook Farm and First Row Partners’ Nay Lady Nay successfully stepped up to graded stakes company on November 29. The 3-year-old daughter of No Nay Never, ridden by Junior Alvarado for trainer Chad Brown, won Churchill Downs’ Grade 2 Mrs. Revere Stakes with an impressive late run, splitting rivals in the stretch to hit the wire a half-length in front of Dalika. The 7-1 winner ran 1 1/16 miles over the good turf in 1:48.52.
Bred in Ireland by Stephen Sullivan, Nay Lady Nay is out of the English Channel mare Lady Ederle. The sales veteran first went through the Goffs ring as a weanling, bringing $47,181, then returned as a yearling to command a final bid of $59,250. Transferred to the United States, the filly went through the OBS March 2-year-old in training sale and sold for $210,000 to Hidden Brook. A second out winner, Nay Lady Nay won the listed Parx Fall Oaks before her win in the Mrs. Revere. Overall, her record stands at three wins from five starts for earnings of over $270,000. She is also one of the over 50 winners and 12 blacktype runners in 2019 to graduate from the Hidden Brook Florida training center.
Nay Lady Nay broke well for Alvarado, who was riding the filly for the first time, and settled kindly on the rail near mid-pack through the early going. Up front, Hard Legacy was determined to set the pace over She’sonthewarpath and Amandrea, leaving the wide-drawn The Mackem Bullet to take back into fifth in the clubhouse turn.

After early fractions of :24.59 and :50.25, The Mackem Bullet was the first to move heading into the far turn. She wound up three-wide, forcing Dalika to go nearly five wide around the bend. Alvarado was a little more patient, saving ground into the stretch, but he had to send Nay Lady Nay through a narrow gap between the pair of The Mackem Bullet and Dalika in the final sixteenth of a mile.

Digging in gamely, Nay Lady Nay accelerated through the hole and grabbed the victory in the final strides, winning by a half-length over Dalika. The Mackem Bullet had to settle for third, while Hard Legacy held on to be fourth.
One day prior at Churchill Downs, the Hidden Brook foaled, raised sold Kallio captured the Cardinal S. (G3).
