Trainer Mark Casse ran 1-2 in the $125,000 Soaring Free Stakes when Gary Barber and Eclipse Thoroughbred Partners’ front-running Golden Canary outlasted Tracy Farmer’s Dancing Duchess by a neck.
Sahin Civaci was aboard Golden Canary a 2-year-old daughter of Medaglia D’Oro, who raced 6 1/2 furlongs on the E.P. Taylor Turf Course in 1:15.47. Her only other start had been a runner-up finish to Airosa.
Golden Canary is the 175th black-type stakes winner for Medaglia d’Oro. Medaglia d’Oro stands at Darley in Kentucky. She´s also the latest black type winner to emerge from the famed Hidden Brook Florida training center. Among the others is Grade 1 winners Arabian Lion and Program Trading.
