Hidden Brook Florida Grad Carotari Blitzes Course Record at Saratoga

Carotari dueled through very quick early splits but kept finding to lower the Saratoga course record by two hundredths of a second a course record set by Leinster in the GIII Troy S. two weeks ago.
The 3-year-old son of Artie Schiller is the 28th winner from the Hidden Brook Florida training center in Ocala, Florida.

A debut winner at Santa Anita last June while under the care of Luis Mendez, the bay was transferred to the Lynch barn before finishing fifth in the rained-off Tyro S. at Monmouth that August. He was beaten a nose by eventual Hutcheson S. (G3)hero Gladiator King in his turf debut at Gulfstream Park West in November, and resurfaced to fill the same slot at Indiana July 3.

The bay was most recently third at this level in a July 26 off-the-turfer, and was 78-10 facing a full and solid-looking field including big-figure maiden breaker and odds-on pick Sayyaaf for Chad Brown.

Locked on to the chalk early through supersonic fractions of :21.01 and :43.08, the bay overtook his fading foe in midstretch and was never seriously threatened from there to prevail by 1 3/4 lengths. I Can Do Anything was second. Sayyaaf settled for fifth. The winner has a yearling halfbrother by Lookin at Lucky and a foal half-sister by Point of Entry. His dam was bred back to Daddy Long Legs. S
