Hidden Brook graduate Golden Lad stalked a moderate pace as the heavy favorite before mounting a late stretch drive to win the $300,000 Grade 3 Cornhusker Handicap at Prairie Meadows.
Coming off a stakes score in his latest effort in the Mountainview Stakes at Penn National, Golden Lad is trained by Todd Pletcher and was ridden to his last two wins by Javier Castellano.
The son of Medaglia d’Oro out of the Seeking the Gold mare Broadway Gold was born and raised at Hidden Brook for owner/breeder Robsham Stables.Golden Lad is a half brother to Grade 1Kentucky Oaks runner-upBroadway’s Alibi, and graded stakes performer R Gypsy Gold.
