Impressing in the $200,000 Meadowview Stakes at Penn National on Saturday, Golden Lad broke on top and led the way before briefly giving way to a challenge by 25-1 longshot Very Lucky on the backstretch.
Moving easily back into the lead in the turn under slight urging from Javier Castellano, Golden Lad opened up and handily put away the field to win by 5 lengths.
Born and raised at Hidden Brook, Golden Lad is by Medaglia d’Oro, out of the Seeking the Gold mare Broadway Gold. He is a half brother to multiple Graded Stakes Winner Broadway’s Alibi and Grade 1 placed Stakes Winner R Gypsy Gold.
Bred and owend by Robsham Stables, the 5-year-old graded stakes winner is trained by Todd Pletcher andhas earned $466,220.
